Special Education Services

Freshwater Education District provides, by cooperative efforts, comprehensive special education services within the twelve member districts for children, families, and school district staff.

We serve students from birth to twenty-one years of age with an IEP or IFSP. Our staff includes teachers, speech professionals, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, school psychologists, behavior and program specialists, paraprofessionals and district support staff. They are committed to working with our students and staff to educate and empower our learners with a variety of needs. Students receive special education services in the most appropriate setting, ranging from home services for young children to specialized placements, when needed.

Our education district provides a wide array of special education services. These include: identifying students with disabilities through referral and evaluation, assisting staff with state and federal rules and regulations for due process procedures, ensuring a free and appropriate public education (FAPE), ensuring best practices and standards-based instruction, and collaborating with community resources to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

We also assist districts with health related services reimbursement (third-party billing, MARSS reporting, tuition billing and special education funding requirements.
